Chichen Itzá - Ek Balam
In the Mayan language, Chichen means “mouth of the well”, and in the Itzá language it means “water sorcerer”. Chichen Itza is a Mayan archeological site located in Yucatan, Mexico, and is considered one of the most important sites on the Yucatan Peninsula. It is situated 30 kilometers north of the city of Valladolid and 2 kilometers from the Mayan village of Ek Balam. In Yucatecan Maya, Ek Balaam means “black jaguar” (Ek: “black”; Balam: “jaguar”).
